Manatee Commune, a.k.a. Grant Eadie, began in the misty trees Bellingham, Washington. Combining textures of the rainy woods and the windy seas of the Pacific Northwest with the calming mood of clean surfy guitar licks and rolling arpeggiated sine waves, Manatee Commune seeks to capture the atmosphere of taking a thoughtful, self-reflecting stroll through the forest. Bright, down tempo percussion placed neatly under pleasant, classically influenced viola melodies make his music both easily listenable and complex.
The song Wake was written in the summer of 2014. Manatee Commune's debut record "Brush" had just dropped and with a few weeks before the KEXP in-studio Grant wanted to try and write some new music. Wake quickly became a new favorite and was chosen as one of the songs to be recorded for the Manatee Commune KEXP in-studio performance. Grant's use of wind chimes, guitar, viola, percussion, & Abelton garnered it a lot of attention online. A studio version the track has never been recorded but after the success of the NPR Tiny Desk Contest video and a lot of people asking we've decided to release this track for free download!
Manatee Commune will play Sasquatch! on Monday, May 25th. Check out "Wake" here & download for free!
