We set out to get on the Shopify Theme Store, but little did we know how difficult that would be. So we decided to build it anyways to hone our skills in theme design, and to do the hard work of building a fully custom, from scratch, Shopify theme.
Needless to say we learned a TON, and even thought it was a large investment on our part, we came out the other side with so much more experience and knowledge. We had to wrestle with the bottom navigation, which we are convinced is the best place for it to be on devices, as well as technical challenges like building a framework that does what we want, whist still being able to be customized and support third-party code. Even things like updating the theme and rolling out new changes was a feat in-and-of itself, learning how to deal with software versioning, updating legacy themes, and more.
This is the single biggest achievement I've had in the Shopify world since starting this new venture 3+ years ago.
